How it works

URBio consists in an iterative process, oscillating between a user-driven interaction phase (left side), and a computer-driven optimization phase (right side). In the interaction phase, the user explores data in maps and parallel coordinates, and inputs their preferences, which evolve as new insights are gained. The computer (right side) then calculates new urban configurations which are optimized according to these preferences, and evaluated against various criteria. The new results are sent to the web interface for further exploration, and the process continues.
